The name Shivanand Nagappa Kelur is the talk of the tongue in the field of education in north Karnataka in general and the city of victory VIJAYAPUR in particular, for his profound service in education. Born in a remote village SHALLAGI of the undivided BIJAPUR district, rose to the zenith of success in the educational arena through his sheer hard work and unmitigated effort. Having out-and-out belief in the dignity of labour/work “EARNING WHILE LEARNING” as we see in many countries like China, South Korea, and Japan; where the family system teaches children to earn their living at an early age.

Mr. Shivanand being highly receptive and insightful towards family and the socio-economical condition of society, started earning at the age of 14 to defray his tiny part of his expenditure in school days, becoming less burden to his parents. He worked as an agricultural labourer, and helper in the construction sector and did almost every work.

Soon after his graduation in education, started working as an assistant teacher in Chemistry in a private school. The meagre salary he received was not enough to supplement his huge family demands and responsibility on his shoulders. He chose to open a coaching centre in the name of Excellent coaching classes to quench his infinite thirst and hunger. He gave limitless service working day in and day out. Started barely with 2 children in 1995 has now turned into a mammoth institution, educating nearly 7000 students; giving an employment opportunity to nearly 600 teaching and non-teaching staff itself is testimony to his unstinted effort, strategic planning, unparalleled leadership, and calculated risk-taking ability. He always thinks about well-being and welfare of staff and students. To help financially, he established co-op banks; VIKAS Society, Navajeevan Souhardha Society through which he supported several staff members without much hassle in availing loan facility at nominal rate of interest. Played crucial role in COVID-19 pandemic by distributing ration for 2-3 months for staff members. He is providing free education to many COVID affected families.

Mr. Shivanand Kelur is very interested in agriculture. He has been cultivating Mango, Dragon Fruit, and Sugarcane on 10 acres of land. He has become a model to many farmers and many farmers visit his farm often.

He married to Shivaleela in 1999 and bore 2 daughters Kshama & Kripa. The former has completed her MBBS and the latter is pursuing MBBS. Both are highly intelligent and able to carry forward the legacy of their father.
